Clinical evaluation of Isotretoin and Etretinate in patients with cystic acne and psoriasis vulgaris

Abstract

|
The purpose of this paper is to assess the clinical therapeutic effectiveness and any possibility of untoward side reaction of Isotretinoin in cystic acne and Etretinate in psoriasis vulgaris.
Three cases of cystic acne and three cases of psoriasis vulgaris were subjected to an open clinical trial in the department of Dermatology in St. Mary´s Hospital.
The effectiveness was assessed by the subjective decision in 4 different arbitrary level; excellent, good, fair, poor.
The general effect of the Isotretinoin for cystic acne was good in all cases, and that of Etretinate for psoriasis vulgaris was excellent in 2 cases and good in 1 case after 6 weeks of treatment. Only dry mouth was experienced in 4 cases.
